Mega Man Star Force anime airing on YouTube for a limited time

To promote the upcoming release of Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, Capcom is uploading the original 2006 Mega Man Star Force anime to YouTube for a limited time.

Both the Japanese and English versions will be uploaded, though the English anime is much shorter than the Japanese version and ends after the first season. Each version has its own release schedule and availability period, with the Japanese episodes being available for a more limited time–likely because the series is also on Japanese streaming services.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection new trailer, price and pre-order bonuses

Following yesterday’s release date announcement (it’s March 27, 2026!), Capcom has released a new trailer for Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection with an extended look at some of the new features in the collection, as well as pricing and pre-order bonuses.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection will launch at a price point of $39.99 USD / $49.99 CAD / €39.99 / ¥4990 / £32.99.

Pre-ordering the game on digital storefronts will net you two additional character models for the Main Menu. Both are fully dubbed in English as well.

  • Geo Stelar (Casual Wear)
  • Omega-Xis

In addition, you’ll get four extra music arrangements in the Music Player:

  • Loneliness – Summer Shade Version
  • Astro Wave – Brilliant Expanse Version
  • Anthem of the Solitary – Howling Void Version
  • Cheerful Indoors – School Days Version

Capcom notes that pre-order bonuses may also be available for the physical version depending on the retailer, though no English physical version has been announced at this time. Update: English physical releases for Switch and PS5 are now going up at various North American retailers.

In addition, the game’s official website has been updated with some new screenshots and character bios, giving us a good look at the Online menus in English.

Tucked away in one of the screenshots is a detail that’s easy to miss, but has big implications. Whereas in previous screenshots and demos, Capcom used AI-upscaled pixel art for the character portraits, it seems they’ve now been replaced with high resolution artwork! You can see a comparison of Geo’s portrait below. The new portrait seems to be based on the original artwork previously seen in Mega Man Star Force Official Complete Works.

Even more Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection details from TGS2025 Special Stage live stream

With more players getting hands-on time with the TGS2025 Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection demo, we have even more details trickling in about the new features and changes in this collection. Additionally, Capcom hosted a Special Stage live stream with some surprising announcements. Here’s what’s new:

  • During the stage show, it was revealed that the previously-announced Arranged BGM option will feature arranged versions of every single song in the games’ soundtracks!
  • The Star Force Legacy Collection will add a much-requested Auto-Save feature.
  • There is now a new screen after you press CONTINUE on the Title Screen where you can select a save file to load. In the stage show, this screen only had a single save file labeled “Manual Save”, but it seems likely that more save files could be shown (such as an auto-save).
  • More changes to remove the need for touch controls: the bull minigame in Taurus Fire’s stage, Truck Comp, now uses the ABXY Buttons.
  • The director for Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is revealed to be Koji Oda, who previously directed Mega Man 11.
  • The stage show featured several messages of support from Mega Man Star Force development staff, including Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection director Koji Oda, Mega Man Star Force 2 director Masakazu Eguchi, Mega Man Star Force series director Masahiro Yasuma, and Mega Man Star Force series illustrator Shinsuke Komaki. The latter even included a brand-new piece of artwork to celebrate the announcement of the Legacy Collection!

More Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection details from TGS demo impressions

Tokyo Game Show 2025 has kicked off, and with it, people’s first impressions with the hands-on demo of Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection are starting to come in.

A big thank you to our friend Race, who played the demo and shared his observations! We’ve included some of his photos in this post with his permission. Note that these are off-screen photos, so the appearance may vary when playing on your own device.

  • Just like Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, the main menu screen for Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection will feature a 3D Mega Man. He will do some animations if you leave the game idle, and pressing LB triggers some random dialogue between Geo and Mega.
  • There are various screen layout options available:
    • Both screens stacked vertically, with the active screen shown larger.
    • Both screens shown side-by-side, with the active screen shown larger.
    • The active screen shown in the center, with the inactive screen small and off to the side.
    • Both screens rotated 90 degrees, aka ‘tate mode’. This allows you to play the game using a rotated display or a Flip Grip with the original DS screen layout.
  • The game selection screen allows you to choose from each game version, with MMSF2 still bundled as Zerker x Ninja and Zerker x Saurian. The screen has placeholder stars for each game version, with MMSF2’s dual versions having two stars each, so this likely tracks which games you have completed.
  • For MMSF1, the intro cutscene has been reworked for a single screen.
  • In MMSF1, the On Air option has been removed from the Transer menu.
  • Pulsing into things in MMSF1 has been reworked to remove the need for touch controls. Pressing the Y Button allows you to choose from the available targets on screen, and pressing the A Button will then pulse into that target.
  • The free camera option lets you view basically the whole map without having to move Geo.
  • In MMSF1, you can no longer design your own Face Pic for your Brother profile. Instead, you can now choose from any of the character portraits used across all three games, including many variations such as Mega Man’s various forms.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection extended trailer, QoL features detailed

During Capcom’s Tokyo Games Show stream, the company debuted a new, extended announcement trailer for Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection. Following that, Capcom took to X to showcase a host of new features and QoL for the upcoming collection. Let’s take a look at what’s new!

Be sure to also check our previous post to see which features were revealed in the initial announcement trailer for Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection!

We’ve got our first look at English dialogue text, which already shows a big improvement for Mega Man Star Force 1: the text spacing for the first game has been fixed! As can be seen in the comparison below, text is no longer monospaced and line breaks have been adjusted. It remains to be seen to what extent the game’s text has been touched up, but this is a promising first look.

In addition, Battle Card names and descriptions are no longer constrained by the DS screen’s limited resolution! An example can be seen in the screenshot comparison from MMSF3 below, where Air Spread 1’s description is extended and easier to read.

The trailer also confirms new arranged music for a select number of tracks across the games. You’ll be able to freely choose if you want to play with the original DS music only, or swap in the arranged tracks.

Moving on to the QoL improvements, Rockman Unity showed off several new additions on X, starting with the assist settings. Two settings are available: you can increase Geo’s running speed, as well as modify the rate of random encounters — Star Force 2 players rejoice! Additionally, you can choose whether these assist settings are always active, or only while you’re holding down ZR.

Rockman Unity also unveiled new difficulty settings, which have been expanded quite a bit from Battle Network Legacy Collection. Just like its predecessor’s Buster Max Mode, you’ll be able to increase the power of the Mega Buster — up to 500%. New settings are sliders for reducing damage taken, multiplying the amount of Zenny received from battle, and options to always fully recover HP after each battle, always be able to escape from battle, and display the location of EX bosses on the map.

We’ve also got a look at the screen layout settings, which allows for large degree of customizability. You can choose the screen layout, screen ratio, screen positions, and the scaling speed when switching between the two screens. Furthermore, the mysterious free camera option seen in the TGS demo’s control scheme is confirmed to allow you to freely move the camera across the map by pushing the right analog stick.

Also confirmed are Append Cards (English name to be confirmed)! This feature allows you to receive cards which were originally only obtainable via special events or toys. Rockman Unity notes that some Append Cards are not included, but so far we have confirmation of MMSF2’s Tribe Attack Cards, Tribe King Cards, and the King Grandeur distribution card.

Finally, just like Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is confirmed to be receiving Simplified and Traditional Chinese localizations, as evidenced by the new trailers uploaded on Capcom’s Asian YouTube channel.

Capcom’s booth at Tokyo Game Show 2025 will feature a playable demo of Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, and we’ll probably hear some details about the game then as players get their hands on it. We’ll keep you updated on any further information!

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection announced for 2026 release!

Attention, Wave Battlers! Capcom has just dropped an announcement trailer for the long-awaited Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, which premiered exclusively in today’s Japanese Nintendo Direct.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, known in Japan as Ryūsei no Rockman Perfect Collection, will release worldwide in 2026 for a bevy of consoles: PC (Steam), Nintendo Switch 1, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It will contain every version of all three Star Force games:

  • Mega Man Star Force Pegasus
  • Mega Man Star Force Leo
  • Mega Man Star Force Dragon
  • Mega Man Star Force 2 Zerker x Ninja
  • Mega Man Star Force 2 Zerker x Saurian
  • Mega Man Star Force 3 Black Ace
  • Mega Man Star Force 3 Red Joker

The game will support online trading and battling. Do note that, like MMBNLC, this collection will not have cross-play or cross-save features across platforms.

You can watch the announcement trailers above and below. The Japanese trailer shows off a few more in-game scenes than the English trailer.

While the initial trailers are quite short, we can already get a glimpse at some confirmed features:

  • Like the originals, the game is still split into 2 screens. There will be several options for screen layouts, including some that will automatically resize the screens during gameplay, for instance when you open the Custom Screen.
  • 3D models in battle are rendered at a crisp high resolution!
  • In the Custom Screen, high-resolution Battle Card artwork is used rather than the original in-game pixel art.
  • A high-resolution filter will be added, which upscales and smoothens out the pixel art. We can probably expect this to be similar to MMBNLC’s high-resolution filter.
  • Online battles will feature both a casual match and a ranked match mode.
  • As usual, the collection will feature a music player and art gallery.
  • It seems to be possible to have up to 100 Brothers, a significant increase from the games’ original 6.
  • Mega Man appears to have additional voice clips when using Battle Cards in battle. However, it remains to be seen whether this is actually in the game or only added for the trailer.
  • Online battles for Mega Man Star Force 1 appear to be supported for the first time. On the DS, MMSF1 battles were local wireless only.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection will be playable at Tokyo Game Show from September 25-28th, so we’ll likely have more info about this upcoming collection soon. Attendees will receive a clear file with the game’s key visual as a gift.

Rockman the Shooting Star manga to be released in digital form

The Japanese version of the Ryusei no Rockman manga (translated in English as Rockman the Shooting Star in the book) is set to have a digital re-release coming out on August 22nd! This includes the 3 volumes of Rockman the Shooting Star, which loosely adapts Mega Man Star Force 1, and Rockman the Shooting Star Another Story 「TRIBE」, which loosely adapts Mega Man Star Force 2. These appear to be the original collected volumes with spiffy new logos. The volumes will be sold for ¥880 each and can be found in JP e-book marketplaces such as Amazon Japan.

Written and illustrated by Masaya Itagaki, Rockman the Shooting Star and TRIBE, were originally released from 2006 to 2008. Official translations of the first 3 volumes were later released in Thailand and Indonesia. In Japan, the original physical release of the TRIBE manga has become quite difficult to get, making this a very welcome accessibility point for fans.

Berserk B.I.T.S demo impressions: a charming MMBN-inspired idle RPG

Today, we’ve got some impressions for Berserk B.I.T.S., an upcoming indie game which has been making the rounds recently. Developer Berserk Boy Games has previously published another 2D Mega Man-inspired game, the titular Berserk Boy, on Steam and Nintendo Switch. This follow-up instead takes inspiration from the Mega Man Battle Network series by taking the digital warrior aspect and bringing it directly to your desktop.

Berserk B.I.T.S is an idle-RPG auto-battler where you collect battle chips and fight viruses, all while you do something else! Manage programs that produce chips while your B.I.T battles viruses and completes missions. It’s honestly quite an addicting gameplay loop as you clear a level, collect items, buy upgrades, accept missions, and repeat.

Intro to the Game

The game begins with a little PET-like device appearing in the corner of your screen where you select a save file. After the brief introduction explaining the various game windows, you’ll be dropped into the main game.

You can also choose to play the game in full screen so it doesn’t show your desktop, as well as set various scaling options that resize the game quite nicely.

The Home Menu, as seen as the blue tiles below, is a customizable space where your B.I.T runs around in when not in a Net area. You can personalize your Home space by replacing tiles and buying accessories. This is also where the various programs you obtain will appear.

The Explorer window, seen in pink, is how you access the Net. Simply drag and drop your B.I.T into one of the areas and the level will begin. During battles, your B.I.T will automatically attack using the regular shot or chips when available, and even dodge attacks. It’s a lot like MMBN 4.5’s Navi controls, but more automated, and faster battles. In fullscreen mode, this blocks background covers up the unused space of the game, but otherwise, this is where your desktop would show through and you can seamlessly interact between the two.

The Gameplay

As you progress, you’ll obtain eggs that can be hatched by placing them on the Home Menu. Cyber Eggs will hatch into programs which produce battle chips for you on a fixed interval. Once a chip is completed, they are sent to the deck, seen in the yellow window, where they can automatically be used during battle. You’ll see many familiar attacks like shockwaves, water waves, swords, and more.

Programs need food. After a while, they’ll stop producing chips and will need to be fed a particular food. As you feed them, they’ll level up and produce chips faster. This space will keep you busy as your B.I.T is off battling. Another program will generate money for you. When it turns gold, you click and shake it to release all the money it produced. Similarly, there is a heart program that will recover you when you shake it. You even need to clean up program poop!

Finally, what keeps the gameplay loop going is the missions. Nearly every time you finish a level, you’ll get an email in the game asking you to accept a mission. Typically, these involve completing the level with no chips, no recovery, or some other gimmick. These will reward useful parts for building more items you may need. These can be seen on the map as icons above the areas.

It can be challenging to manage your resources to keep your B.I.T alive on harder levels. I found myself having to check and feed all the various programs often and make sure my B.I.T had enough health to survive the battle. Some of the more interesting tools to automate the busy work were locked away behind more resources than I could possibly get, but that seems to be the long-term goal in achieving true auto-battling.

Conclusion

Overall, it’s a very chill game with charming visuals and familiar concepts that will keep you coming back for more. Berserk B.I.T.S will be featured as part of Steam Idler Fest, beginning on February 3, 2025. You can download the public demo today. Release date is TBD.
