Latest revision as of 10:43, 23 October 2023
Operation Battle (オペレーションバトル) is a mode in Mega Man Battle Network 5 that is accessed through the title screen by having the Progress Chip Gate attached to the GBA, similar to MMBN4. This mode uses EXE4.5 Operation Battle system. The Navi slot in must be MegaMan, or a Team Navi of that version. Nothing will happen if you slot in Colonel in Team ProtoMan for example.
Modes
The following modes are available for Operation Battle.
- BattleChallenge:
A marathon of battles against Darkloids and the Navis of that version. Completing this mode earns a star for that Navi.
- Equip:
The player can choose a preset folder for battle and change their L and R buster equipment. Different Navis have different folders preset but any Navi can use any folder.
- NetworkDuel:
Network using Progress Chip Gates' Operation Battle Mode.
- Help:
A short tutorial against Mettaurs on the basics of Operation Battle.
The gauge increases over time and the more hits you land. It decreases if you are hit or use up to send Battle Chips. Chips you are able to send are dependent on the gauges:
Color | Battle Chip | Cost |
---|---|---|
Yellow | Standard Chip Program Advance |
One gauge All remaining gauge |
Blue | Mega Chip Dark Chip |
Two gauges One gauge |
Red | Giga Chip | Three gauges |
Note: Few Standard Chips do not have a gauge cost, such as Invisible or AreaGrab.
Changes from Battle Network 4
- The only Navis that can be slot in are the ones exclusive to that version, instead of any Navi from both versions.
- The Operation Battle system is lifted directly from Rockman EXE 4.5 Real Operation instead of MMBN4’s. This includes a preset Folder that can be used in addition to real life chips.
- Instead of fighting the version exclusive Navis from both versions in the marathon battle, it’ll be against Nebula Navis and that version’s exclusive Navis.
Exclusive BattleChips
There are unique chips that are only available in physical form, therefore only usable with the Progress Chip Gate:
BattleChips Behavior Differences
Certain chips behave differently in Operation Battle compared to normal play.
- Navi chips do not follow the records of the game's main file.
- Roll does not absorb Holy panels and has a set SP attack power of 50 (up from 30).
- Variable Sword and Neo Variable combinations are chosen randomly by the Navi.
Program Advances
Program Advances combinations can be slot in by pressing Select and the gauge is Yellow or higher. The Navi is vulnerable while slotting it and they flinch, the combo needs to be restarted. Keep in mind also using a PA will use up all remaining gauge, no matter how much you had at the time of activation.
Due to the new mode, some Program Advance combinations have been changed in order to activate them.
Each Navi have different busters they can use in battle. Any of them can be assigned to the L and R buttons.
