Bonus Card (Counter Hit)

From The Rockman EXE Zone Wiki

Bonus Card is a mechanic in the Mega Man Star Force series where if Mega Man lands a Counter Hit on an enemy, he will receive a Bonus Card for use during that turn.

  • If a Bonus Card is used to land another Counter Hit, this will not yield another Bonus Card.
  • Brother Cards and Legend Cards can never be selected as Bonus Cards.
  • If the player enters the Custom Screen and exits without selecting any new cards, they will keep the cards that were in their hand including any Bonus Cards.

Mega Man Star Force 1 & 2

In MMSF1 & MMSF2, a Bonus Card is selected using the following rules:

Normal rules

  • First, the game will randomly select a Battle Card class:
    • 12/16: Standard Class
    • 3/16: Mega Class
    • 1/16: Giga Class
  • Next, the game will choose a random Attack Card of that class in the player's Folder.
    • In MMSF2, this includes Star Cards.
  • If the Folder does not contain any Attack Cards of that class, the game will choose a random Attack Card of any class in the Folder.
    • In MMSF2, this includes Star Cards.
  • If the Folder does not contain any Attack Cards at all, the game will choose a random Battle Card in the Folder.
    • In MMSF2, this does not include Star Cards.

Big Bang

In MMSF1, if Mega Man is in a Star Force form, the Bonus Card is guaranteed to be the associated Star Force Big Bang (SFB):

  • Ice Pegasus: Magician's Freeze
  • Fire Leo: Atomic Blazer
  • Green Dragon: Elemental Cyclone

In MMSF2, if Mega Man is in a Tribe form, the Bonus Card has a 50% chance of being the associated Link Force Big Bang (LFB). If this chance is missed, the game applies the normal rules as written above. The exception is Mega Man Rogue, who follows the normal rules as written above.

  • Thunder Zerker: Thunder Bolt Blade
  • Wood Ninja: Demon Flurry
  • Fire Saurian: G. Blazer
  • Zerker Ninja & Ninja Zerker: Elemental Blade
  • Zerker Saurian & Saurian Zerker: Vanishing Blazer
  • Ninja Saurian & Saurian Ninja: Enma Gale Garrison
  • Tribe King: Czar D Breaker
  • Rogue Zerker, Rogue Ninja & Rogue Saurian: Follow normal rules

Mega Man Star Force 3

In MMSF3, a Bonus Card is selected using the following rules:

Normal rules

  • At the start of any battle, the game will make a list of all Attack Cards in the player's Folder (irrespective of their class) and shuffle it in a random order.
    • This includes White Cards.
  • Each time a Bonus Card is awarded, the game takes the next card from that list.
  • If the end of the list is reached, it will repeat from the start without re-shuffling.
  • If the Folder does not contain any Attack Cards at all, the game will not award a Bonus Card.

Big Bang

If Mega Man is in a Vibrant Noise, Multi-Noise, or Finalized form, the Bonus Card is guaranteed to be the associated Noise Force Big Bang (NFB). For Multi-Noise, it uses the Noise that Mega Man Multi-Noised with, rather than his base Noise form. The exception is Rogue Noise, who follows the normal rules as written above.

  • Libra Noise & Cygnus Noise: Meteor Light Barrage
  • Corvus Noise & Taurus Noise: Atom Blazer
  • Cancer Noise & Virgo Noise: Dyna Wave
  • Gemini Noise & Crown Noise: Thunder Bolt Blade
  • Ophiuca Noise & Wolf Noise: Elemental Cyclone
  • Rogue Noise: Follows normal rules
  • Black Ace: Black End Galaxy
  • Red Joker: Red Gaia Eraser

Trivia

  • The Bonus Card selection rules can be abused to only receive Mega or Giga Class Cards as Bonus Cards. This can be done by not placing any Attack Cards in the Folder (including Star Cards and White Cards), except for Mega or Giga Class Cards. In this situation, you can only use Attack Cards from the Brother Card Roulette, but any Bonus Cards earned with them will always be the Mega or Giga cards in the Folder.
