Locations of BattleChips in Mega Man Battle Network 2.

  • Traders will not drop *✱ code if the chip has 6 codes total, except for the RetroChip Trader, which will be listed if the chip drops in *✱ code. Additionally, some (but not all) Navi chips will drop in *✱ code, but for only certain traders.
    • (GBA-EN) All chips in MMBN2 have *✱ code within the game data. However, only a portion are ever obtainable in normal gameplay. Certain non-*✱ codes of other chips, are also unobtainable.
    • (LC) In the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, it is now possible to get *✱ code from 6 code chips. The change is not yet reflected on this page.
Terminology Meaning
BMD Blue Mystery Data. These Mystery Data can only be picked up once and will not spawn again.
PMD Purple Mystery Data. These Mystery Datas require the Unlocker SubChip to open. Can only be picked up once and will not spawn again.
GMD Green Mystery Data. These Mystery Data will always spawn when you jack in.
  • In this game, the GMD are randomized when they are examined, so the game can be reset to re-randomize the content.
High, Mid, Low Refers to the remaining % of MegaMan's maximum HP at the end of the battle, it will then determine which drop will be given.
  • High is 75% or higher. Mid is 25% to 75%. Low is 25% or less.
Marine Harbor Lobby Refers to the Chip Trader (3 chips) at mentioned location.
Netopia Town Refers to the Chip Trader Special (10 chips) at mentioned location.
Marine Harbor outside Refers to the Chip Trader Special (10 chips) at mentioned location. Appears in Chapter 7.
ACDC Metro Station Refers to the Chip Trader Special (10 chips) at mentioned location. Appears in Chapter 8.
RetroChip Trader (GBA) Refers to the RetroChip Trader, which can only be used by linking up with Mega Man Battle Network 1. Available at 4 locations, but each can only be used once.
  • This feature is inaccessible in the Virtual Console and Legacy Collection versions.
Network Duel Obtained by playing multiplayer with another player.
(Virtual Console only) Can only be obtained in the Wii U Virtual Console release of MMBN2.
Trader only The chip can only be obtained via Chip Trader or RetroChip Trader.
Unobtainable The chip exists in the game’s data but is impossible to obtain legitimately.
