This page is a list of glitches that appear in Rockman EXE 4.5: Real Operation.

Major glitches

Broken clock glitch

When the internal battery of the Game Pak has run dry, the game's Real-Time Clock no longer functions and always reports a date and time of 0/0/2000, 12:00 AM. This causes the game to freeze in several situations, which in the worst case can render the game unplayable. The only fix for this issue is to replace the internal battery in the Game Pak.

  • Viewing the Schedule by pressing Right on the PET screen causes significant slowdown and graphical glitches.
  • Entering any Internet area which has a grown WoodMan tree on it causes the game to freeze.

E-Mail screen crash

When the A and B Buttons are pressed on the same frame while viewing the list of mails in the E-Mail screen, the game attempts to handle both inputs at the same time, and this results in a crash.

Schedule crash

When you have any events listed in your schedule, there is an extremely rare chance that the game can crash upon any screen transition, which increases the more scheduled events you have. The technical cause of this glitch is the game using a portion of stack memory after it has already been deallocated; when a hardware interrupt fires in this interval, stack corruption occurs.

WindMan missable HP Memories

Whenever the player starts playing the game on a new day, a minigame Mr. Prog is spawned somewhere on the Net for WindMan. However, this checks the progress of the first Navi the player plays as that day, rather than checking the progress for WindMan. If the first Navi the player chooses that day has obtained more Licenses than WindMan, it is possible for a Mr. Prog to be spawned that normally should not spawn for WindMan yet. When this occurs, and on the same day, the player then switches to WindMan and clears the Mr. Prog's minigame without having first fulfilled the conditions for spawning that particular Mr. Prog, WindMan will receive Zennys or BugFrags instead of an HP Memory and the HP Memory is permanently missed.

Since there are 19 unique minigame Mr. Progs for WindMan and he needs 18 HP Memories to reach his maximum HP of 1000, it is possible to permanently miss enough HP Memories such that WindMan can no longer reach his maximum HP.

This glitch can be avoided by making sure WindMan is always the first Navi played as on any given day that the player plans to increase WindMan's max HP.

GutsMan MMBN4 desync

When the GutsMan, GutsManSP or GutsManDS chip is used during an EXE4.5 vs. EXE4 Operation Battle, on the EXE4.5 side, the rocks summoned by GutsMan will not fall until after the screen dim ends. This causes the battle to be desynchronized.

An example is shown in the following video. Left = EXE4.5, right+audio = EXE4.

Tournament Probability glitches

Tournament Front-runner glitch

Due to a skewed probability rate, depending on the Navi the player is operating, the game will always select only 1 of the 2 possible tournament front-runners.

To make the other front-runner appear as an opponent, you must play as the other front-runner. As an example, it is impossible to fight ProtoMan in the Official Tournament unless you are operating SearchMan.

Tournament Win Rates glitch

The win rates for NPC Navis in tournaments were not set correctly, so certain Navis to have inconsistent win rates against one another. For example, the victor depending on which Navi was on the left and right on the brackets.

Minor glitches

Visual errors

These are visual errors in the game that can be seen without taking special steps to make it happen.

Bass’ Shooting Buster error

When the playable Bass is using his ShootingBuster PowerAttack, instead of the boss’s ShootingBuster sprite, he will be using his standard shooting sprite with no arm weapon.

Chip Trader Screen error

In the Chip Trader screen, the bottom-right of the box has a tile misaligned. So the shape of the box isn’t completed.

GutsMan mirror match glitch

When the player is controlling GutsMan and challenges an enemy GutsMan to a battle in Internet 2 on Saturdays, after accepting the challenge, the player will fight AquaMan instead.

This glitch is likely caused by a copy-paste error by the developers from AquaMan's script in the same Net area.

Chip Trader color glitch

EXE45 Chip Trader Color Glitch.png

Whenever a MegaChip or GigaChip is received from a Chip Trader or BugFrag Trader, the border of the chip always appears gray instead of blue or red.

Purple Mystery Data out-of-bounds

EXE45 Golf Course Comp 2 out of bounds glitch.gif

By picking up the purple Mystery Data in Golf Course Comp 2 or Internet 9 from the north side, it is possible to move out of bounds by walking northwest after the text finishes. The player can move around freely out-of-bounds; continuously walking in one direction eventually results in the player entering an invisible copy of the map, with no objects.

Multiple WindMan Mr. Progs per day

The very first time you play as a new Navi you've never played as before, it will spawn a new Mr. Prog minigame for WindMan, even if he has already cleared his minigame that day. If WindMan has at least 250 HP, the Mr. Prog will be a repeat from one of the first three Mr. Progs and will not hand out an extra HP Memory.

Mission glitches

Area Music error

When playing as SearchMan or NapalmMan, receive a mission that takes place in the Undernet. When you arrive at the designated area, postpone the mission (bottom option). The regular Internet area music will now play instead of the Undernet music. The music will fix itself once you reload the Field Screen.

Mission #2 Glitch

Due to how the first mission is initialized, ProtoMan and ShadowMan can never receive their Mission #2 as the first random mission.

SearchMan Mission oversight

SearchMan would sometimes receive missions for areas he doesn't have access to yet. For example, Mission #15 in Internet12 doesn't have a check that detects if you beat the SearchMan and IceMan minigame roadblocks, whereas all other missions in that area do have that check.

Official Tournament Entry quirk

Usually, only one weekend tournament can be entered each week. However, when a Navi is first offered the chance to register for the Official Tournament as part of the story, it can be registered in addition to the other weekend tournament that has already been registered. So for that one weekend, 2 weekend tournaments is possible.

ShadowMan AntiNavi glitches

ShadowMan Summon Failure glitch

The boss ShadowMan's AntiNavi trap does not deallocate objects once it was done, causing certain Navi summon chips to no longer work after he uses it.

ShadowMan Roll glitch

If boss ShadowMan steals a player's Roll chip using his AntiNavi trap, it will not target the player but will still heal ShadowMan. This is due to player object having a pointer to the object it's currently targeting, so Roll chip gets that pointer and then gets the location from it. AI enemies using Roll however, don't have a pointer like that, so Roll fails attacking.

Year 2001 glitch

If you play on the date January 1, 2000 between 12 AM and 6 AM, the game will think the internal year is 2001.

BurnMan Library Re-Order

In the Library of MMBN4, BurnMan’s chip series is placed after TopMan. In EXE4.5 however, BurnMan’s chip series is placed after ShadeMan. In the pack, if it is ordered by ID, BurnMan chips will be placed after TopMan like in MMBN4.

MMBN4 carryover

These are glitches present in Mega Man Battle Network 4 that was carried over to EXE4.5.

Visual errors

These are visual errors in the game that can be seen without taking special steps to make it happen.

GutsMan color error

GutsMan's darker red on his body is the same color as the lighter red, making them blend together. This error is only for the original GutsMan sprite, as his SP and DS color swaps have separate colors for the darker and lighter shades.

ProtoMan's sword color error

When ProtoManSP or ProtoManDS swing their sword, the sword will use the palette of ProtoMan's original color instead of the color swap.

BugFix Positioning quirk

While a Navi is using the BugFix chip, their sprite's shadow is slightly moved up during the animation. The positioning fixes itself after the animation.

HeatChaser glitches

HeatChaser Breaking glitch

If BurnMan's Heat Chaser is destroyed with a Breaking attack, it will spawn a new hitbox on the field and can hit MegaMan seemingly through nothingness. This is due Heat Chaser hitboxes referencing the wrong parent object if you destroy the Heat Chaser as it's firing, it will then spawn a new hitbox through a different attack (e.g. MiniBomb).

HeatChaser Obstacle glitch

While BurnMan's HeatChaser is firing off; if you summon any obstacles, the hitboxes will disappear from the HeatChaser's fire until its movement is reset.

Backwards Bass glitch

If Bass is countered while doing his back DarkArmBlade attack, he will return to position stunned with his cape backwards. When he moves, this after images will also be backwards. This remains this way until Bass performs DarkArmBlade again.

BomBoy Pitfall glitch

If BomBoy travels to the frontmost panel of their side of their field and gets caught in a Pitfall panel, it will spawn more more bombs over the bomb it's already pushing. It will spawn as many as possible before the Pitfall panel fades. The bombs will then explode consecutively.
